I do agree that the best practice would be to have midwives and OBs working together. However, I was upset by the condemnation of women who do not or can not breastfeed. As a women who tried as hard as she could but could not produce I am offended by their comments. We all know the benefits of breastfeeding but the stress of troubles with breastfeeding can make for a very unhappy home life and wouldn't it be better to have a mother who is happy with the baby and has time to spend with him then a stranger (a mom who only takes care of needs) breastfeeding the baby.
There are so many ways to reduce the infant mortality rate and we should employ all means necessary.
